Greece – The Peloponnese

12th April - 2nd May 2025(21 nights)pdfdownload

Spring warmth, History and Coastal Scenery

Greece abounds with history and natural beauty and none more so than on its southern peninsula ‘The Peloponnese’. This tour takes in the classical sights of Olympia, Monemvasia, Athens & Delphi to leave you enriched by its history and combines these with relaxation along the coast to create an enchanting early Spring get away.  Being Spring look forward to some Mediterranean warmth and the sight of magnificent wildflowers as you travel.

In the tour there are also visits to the boutique island of Spetses, the Corinth Canal and a Greek winery. All through the tour you will never be far from the sea or beach, and towns which retain a true Greek culture to give you the real Greek experience. Our tour of the Peloponnese lasts 21 nights or include ‘Greece -The Northern Highlights’ and extend your holiday to 34 nights in total, the choice is yours.

Phill and Trisha Barrett – Greece 2023
‘A brilliant tour enabling us to experience the real Greece. There were so many highlights but it was the hospitality and friendliness of the Greek people that have left a lasting impression. Our Tour Directors Sue and David were excellent, always there to give advice, help and information.’

Jackie and Mike Mant – Greece 2023
‘We found this trip very pleasing and relaxed. David and Sue looked after us all the way through, they were very good. Campsites were of a good standard. We made new friends again.’

Day One – Saturday 12th April
Welcome to Bologna in Italy where we meet at a good quality campsite. You should plan your arrival early afternoon to be ready for this evening’s welcome drinks reception and tour briefing around the Tour Directors motorhome.

Day Two – Sunday 13th April
A drive today to catch the overnight ferry from Italy to Greece. Either ‘Camping on Board’ which allows you access to your motorhome throughout the crossing including sleeping in your own motorhome or an ensuite internal cabin is included (depending on the ship’s layout for that day’s crossing). 140 miles

Arriving in Greece we travel to our first Greek campsite. In the evening we have a group dinner in the campsite’s own family run restaurant for our first taste of Greek food and wine. 20 miles

Day Four – Tuesday 15th April

Day Five – Wednesday 16th April
From our campsite we are taken to the coastal village of Dhiakofto where there should be time for a morning coffee before boarding a ‘Rack and Pinion’ train to take us up the Vouraikos gorge to Kalavryta. Climbing at gradients of 1 in 7 the 22km journey passes stunning views to arrive in the mountain town of Kalavryta where we have a group lunch arranged.

Day Six – Thursday 17th April
Move campsites today with a short drive to historic Olympia. 55 miles

Day Seven – Friday 18th April

Day Eight – Saturday 19th April
We move to Gythio in the very south of Greece. 160 miles

Day Nine – Sunday 20th April
Today is the Greek Orthodox Easter Sunday and the biggest annual celebration in the Greek calendar, a day when families get together. For this year, our Easter Sunday also falls on the same day, something which only happens rarely. After a leisurely start to the day, we make our way to a local beachside restaurant for our own group Easter lunch.

Day Ten – Monday 21st April
A free day. The colourful harbour town of Gythio can be reached by walking, cycling or a taxi ride. Alternatively, an opportunity to spend time on the campsite beach or to have a swim in the sea

Day Thirteen – Thursday 24th April
Our destination today is the petite island of Spetses where there will be time to explore as you please. Renowned for its boutiques and picturesque streets it has become an extremely popular destination with upper class Athenians. Transport is by coach and boat.

Day Fourteen – Friday 25th April
A free day. With the resort of Tolo starting from the edge of our campsite and a great beach opposite, you will have plenty of opportunities for today. Group dinner in Tolo this evening.

Day Sixteen – Sunday 27th April
An excursion in Athens centre, including a guided visit of the Acropolis.

Day Seventeen – Monday 28th April
Leaving Athens, we make our way to a Greek Winery where we park and sleep overnight; with no facilities it is an opportunity to use your motorhome’s own. Late afternoon we have a tour of the winery with tastings and snacks, followed by an opportunity to purchase the wines we have enjoyed. 60 miles
