Dear Fellow Motorhomer,
May is a good time to be touring, particularly around the Mediterranean where the weather is sunny without being too hot, where everything remaining spring fresh and the olive tree’s are in leaf.
Greece, camping amongst the olive trees – May 2025
Greece is a big olive producing country and the trees in the above photo will be over 100 years old, albeit in olive tree terms this is not old. On one of the Greek campsites used in the tour, an olive tree located within the campsite restaurant has been aged at over 1,200 years old. Greece is also a big producer of olive oil but it is not the largest, this claim lies with Spain. Whilst Greece has many old olive trees, Spain is the home of large areas for newly planted olive trees. The main area for this is Andalucía, an area that features on our just released Portugal and Spain Discovery tour for later this year. On this tour, routes pass through the olive growing regions where many thousands of olive trees are seen. This tour is an all new itinerary covering an extended period of 52 nights, taking in some of the lesser-known areas in Portugal and Spain, as well as visits to classical cities and many other places of interest. It’s an opportunity to find decent touring weather throughout October and November, with the tour travelling south. The full Portugal and Spain Discovery tour itinerary is available by clicking on its name and bookings are now available on the GB Motorhome Tours website. This tour completes the 2025 tour programme, where some availability now remains on just three of the other tours.
• Scotland Highlands & Royal Deeside – 20 nights in September
• Amsterdam at Christmastime – 7 nights in December
• Scottish Hogmanay – 10 nights in December/January
With our tours being popular and becoming fully booked quickly, we are often asked ‘why don’t you increase the group sizes on each tour?’ Quite simply, tour quality linked with a high level of customer service is the number one priority for GB Motorhome Tours on all its holidays. Allowing group sizes to become larger affects the standard at which tours can be arranged and delivered. So tours will continue to be generally limited to 15 guest motorhomes.
A feature many motorhomers enjoy whilst touring is driving on quiet roads in scenic surrounding. This is something we understand and build into tours, giving an opportunity for meandering between campsites whilst travelling in stunning local scenery.

In preparation for taking your motorhome out for some spring touring, it is a good time to check the age of your tyres. Typically motorhome tyres do not get worn out due to the lower millages most motorhomes travel, however, once a tyre gets to around 6 years old it begins to reach its recommended safe working life. On each tyre is a date stamp, this is in the form of four numbers. The first two numbers are the week of manufacture and the second two the year of manufacture. A date stamp of 21/18 equates to week 21 of 2018, meaning the trye was produced at the end of May 2018, making it 6 years old as of now. The date stamp is located on the side wall of each tyre, however it is usually only put on one side, so it can sometimes involve looking at the tyre from the inside.
Enjoy your spring touring and we look forward to travelling with you soon. Feel free to contact us if there is anything you wish to ask about a tour.
Kindest regards,
