Dear Fellow Motorhomer,
June and lots of touring is taking place in good weather. Over the last month the Scotland Highlands and NC500 tour has been completed, A Journey Around Ireland tour is underway and the Exmoor Coastal Fleeces to Flamingos tour is just about to start. These tours offer socially distanced travel in the company of like-minded people, with all the organisation being taken care of by GB Motorhome Tours. Each tour has been personally researched and is accompanied by experienced Tour Leaders who are passionate for escorting you and your motorhome to great places.
The Scotland Highlands and NC500 tour finished this week, having travelled extensively throughout the Highlands and North Coastal 500 route over the last month, almost totally in dry conditions.

As usual their attention to detail is second to none and this stands out.’ Clive and Sue Swift – Scotland Highlands and NC500 – May/June 2021
‘Excellent tour with wonderful scenery and very well organised despite Covid restrictions. We were well looked after and given lots of ideas for places to see en-route and on site.’ Sue and Derek Davies – Scotland Highlands and NC500 – May/June 2021
‘Forget breakfast at Tiffany’s go for Afternoon Tea at Atholl Palace! Imagine glorious carpets of Bluebells, endless Rhododendrons, Gorse & Broom; throw in a few Standing Stones, Castles (ruined or lived in), Scenic Lochs, Dramatic Coasts, Cliffs and Sand Dunes; plus many a wee Mountain and this was our Scotland Highlands and NC500 tour. Brilliantly organised and escorted.’ Susanna and Ted Brooking – Scotland Highlands and NC500 – May/June 2021

Whilst all current tours being undertaken are UK based, GB Motorhome Tours is rightly known for its foreign tours.
From countries as far North as Iceland, as far South as the Canary Islands, Portugal to the West and Turkey in the East, plus everything in-between; as soon as conditions once more allow, foreign touring to all of these destinations will again feature. Further foreign tours for 2022 will continue to be added to those already on the GB Motorhome Tours website once decisions for this years foreign tours can be taken and a clearer picture for future travel emerges. In addition, UK based tours will continue to be made available to also give touring opportunities for those who prefer not to currently travel abroad.
At this time, foreign touring remains only possible with a number of challenges. Hopefully this will soon change, but in the meantime it is necessary to keep a close check of ongoing Covid regulations if undertaking foreign travel. This is needed for exiting and entering the UK, and for travel in the foreign countries being visited or passing through. GB Motorhome Tours continues to monitor all aspects of foreign travel, including keeping in close contact with suppliers all across Europe, to gain first hand information for basing touring decisions on. All tour participants booked for autumn foreign tours are receiving updates as information covering their tour becomes available. An update will always be sent prior to the date of the balance payment becoming due, and if there remains uncertainty around if the tour can proceed at that time, the balance payment will be delayed until nearer the start date of the tour. Payment is only requested when it is fully anticipated the tour will proceed.
Should it be necessary to cancel any foreign tours for this autumn, GB Motorhome Tours will be offering the possibility of switching to an alternative tour, so to ensure you can still enjoy a holiday. This could be in a ‘closer to home’ foreign country, or if all foreign touring is difficult, then to a choice of UK destinations, including Scotland and Ireland.
Where GB Motorhome Tours have been able to undertake foreign travel over the last 12 months, tour participants have been made aware of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO, previously the FCO) advice for travel to the countries being visited, including how this impacts on various insurances. If you are undertaking independent foreign travel at this time, either by motorhome or other means, do check with your insurers (for personal travel insurance and motorhome vehicle insurance) if the current FCDO advice for the countries being visited impacts on your own insurance. For personal travel insurance (medical cover) most policies exclude any claims when visiting or passing through a country that has negative FCDO travel advice linked to it. At this time, almost all European countries currently have negative advice linked to them by the FCDO. A check on the FCDO advice for any country can be made on their website at www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.
We sincerely hope that all travel can soon return to a more normal and that planned tours for later this year and those in 2022 can proceed as scheduled. In any case, GB Motorhome Tours remains totally flexible and willing to make changes to tours at short notice if required, to ensure options are available for those who wish to tour. For over a year now, GB Motorhome Tours is the only UK tour operator to continue to offer and complete motorhome tours during these challenging times. Our consistently positive and flexible approach to motorhome travel has facilitated this and will always prevail to ensure great touring options continue to be offered for all wishing to travel.
All of us at GB Motorhome Tours look forward to travelling with you soon. Until then, if you wish to make a forecast of the weather, Normans Stone method found in Cullen on the Moray Firth coast of Scotland, could be useful to you.
