Dear Fellow Motorhomer,
July and lots of touring has been taking place over the last month. A Journey Around Ireland tour plus the Exmoor Coastal Fleeces to Flamingos tour have both recently finished. A common theme of customer feedback from all completed tours is just how ‘normal’ they felt things were whilst away. It can be easy to think from much of the media’s take on travel that it is all but impossible to get away, in fact this is not really the case, not even totally for foreign travel. However, what is currently required, even more so than in normal times, is that tours are planned meticulously and when done so, things can feel ‘normal’. Of the UK motorhome tour operators (including the two large clubs) GB Motorhome Tours remains the only tour operator to have offered and complete tours in 2020 and so far throughout all of 2021.
Some customer reviews from the recently completed A Journey Around Ireland tour.
’The stunning Irish scenery and hospitality, coupled with the ability to interact with the group made our first post lockdown long trip truly memorable. Thanks to Ron & Sue for again juggling changing circumstances to deliver memories and experiences for all,’ Jackie & Andy Kitchin – A Journey Around Ireland – June 2021
‘In all the circumstances, this trip proved ideal. Euros, Kilometres and the Gaelic gave us that crucial continental air, we felt that we were abroad. Ron & Sue managed the campsites and meals brilliantly and smoothing our way at all times. The meals and venues were all up to GB Motorhome Tours standard and there can be no higher praise.’ Margaret & Joe Ratcliffe – A Journey Around Ireland – June 2021
‘A great trip around Ireland considering all the restrictions at the moment. We both appreciate the input from Ron & Sue, made into making this a memorable and sociable trip. We really look forward to next years tour.’ Sue & Al Colley – A Journey Around Ireland – June 2021
The above photo is from Doolin on the Cliffs of Moher along the Wild Atlantic Way on Irelands west coast and taken during the recent Ireland tour. A further Meander Around Ireland tour is taking place throughout September and includes a 3-night stay at Doolin. There remains some availability on this tour.
Some reviews from the completed Exmoor Coastal Fleeces to Flamingos tour.
‘For our first GB Motorhomes Tour we were not sure what to expect – honestly, we had told friends and they had laughed about our ‘old people’s” trip! How wrong could they have been – we met interesting, fun and such lovely people – been chaperoned by two delightful guides, one an organiser who goes above and beyond, the other whose knowledge is like traveling with your own encyclopaedia! Jesting aside we have thoroughly enjoyed our first GB Tour – and watch this space as ‘we will be back’ and signing up for future tours. Many thanks’ Dave and Lyn Humphries – UK Fleeces to Flamingos – June/July 2021
‘Yet another fantastic GB tour. Liz and Dave went out of their way to make our stay both enjoyable, fun and informative. Dave’s amazing knowledge of all things nature added to our enjoyment with native walks and adventures even if we did get wet feet!’ Iain and Sue Munro – UK Fleeces to Flamingos – June/July 2021
For those looking to travel further afield and complete their first foreign tour post lockdown, then our newly introduced A Journey Through Spain tour for this September provides a real opportunity. With just a couple of places remaining this is an excellent chance to complete some foreign touring for this year. Making use of the direct crossing from Portsmouth to Santander on board Brittany Ferries new ship Galicia, this tour involves just one international border to minimise any Covid requirements. With the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) now having no negative advice regarding travel to Spain, this tour offers a great chance for making continental travel during September/October.
Whilst some people are totally ready for foreign travel, GB Motorhome Tours fully appreciates this is not yet where everyone is at this time. In recognising this a new Scotland Highland and Royal Deeside tour for mid-September through to early October has been introduced. As well as taking in a good chunk of the great highlands scenery this tour also includes the truly picturesque Royal Deeside region, home to the Queens Scottish residence of Balmoral Castle. There now remains just a couple of places available on the tour.
All of the September tours can be viewed in full and booked on the GB Motorhome Tours website. As always bookings are processed in the order received up to the point of the tour becoming full.
Before we get to September if you are planning a visit to either the Norfolk or Malvern motorhome shows, GB Motorhome Tours have stands at both, where a number of our Tour Directors will be on hand to chat and answer any questions with you.
Looking towards later in the year, the GB Motorhome Tours Christmas trip has just been made available on our website. For this year we take in Bruges and Amsterdam, two of the best cities to be in for a real festive build up to Christmas. In Amsterdam this year throughout December is taking place the Festival of Light; for this, GB Motorhome Tours have a private canal cruise arranged so tour participants can see all the displays from the water as we cruise along whilst also enjoying buffet and drinks arranged on board just for our group.
Going further forward to Autumn 2022 we are currently working on an all new tour to Italy. This tour will take in the Northern Lakes, Verona, Venice, Pisa, Florence and down as far as Rome. Covering 23 nights throughout September 2022, this tour will be available to book in around a months-time. In the meantime, click on the link below to register your interest in this. Those with registered interest will receive the full tour itinerary in advance of it being made generally available, giving them first opportunity to reserve a place at that time if they so wish. To register your interest send us a simple email requesting this.
The 2022 GB Motorhome Tours programme is now increasing with further tours being added as a clearer picture of how travel going forward should look like. Usually by this time of year all of the following years tours would have been made available. However, for now we are deliberately taking things a little slower this year, which we are confident will assist us to run the 2022 tours as planned. Keep an eye on the GB Motorhome Tours website and future months newsletters where all new tours are featured.
All of us at GB Motorhome Tours look forward to catching up with you soon. Either at one of the August motorhome shows or on a tour. In the meantime, if there is anything you wish to ask about a tour or travel in general, feel free to contact us.
